Adventure in Tongariro National Park

A playground of skiing, hiking, mountain biking and more

The Tongariro National Park is a veritable adventurers playground.  New Zealand's biggest ski regions of  Whakapapa and Turoa are within 30 minutes drive from the front door of the Park Lodge.

But it is not just the snow-sports that make National Park a mecca for New Zealand and International adventurers.  The Tongariro National Park and surrounding areas provide the perfect backdrop for mountain biking on well-known tracks such as the 42nd Traverse and Fishers Track, white water rafting, kayaking and canoe trips on the Wanganui River through the Wanganui National Park, hiking, quad-biking, rock-climbing, caving, jet boating, trout fisihing or relaxing in thermal springs in near by Tukino - a traditional Maori community.

In summer the Tongariro National Park is perhaps most famous for the Tongariro Crossing - rated as New Zealand's best one day walk and one of the best in the world.  The whole National Park has many hikes from half day walks to multi-day excursions.
